Privacy policy

Feed Diet ("we") runs feeddiet.com and the Feed Diet Chrome extension. Feed Diet filters the videos in your YouTube feed and the posts in your X timeline, based on a rule you write. A short description of each video or post is sent to TypeSafe AI for classification. We store your email, your plan, and a usage count. We do not store video or post content.

What we collect

• Account data. Your email address, and your name and profile image if you sign in with Google.
• API tokens. We store a SHA-256 hash of each token, never the token itself.
• Usage counts. The number of posts and videos we judge for you in a billing period.
• Install id. The free trial needs no account. When you install the extension it makes a random id, and we store that id with the time of its first use and a count of posts and videos judged per day, only to run the 7-day trial. If you sign up, we copy that first-use time to your account, so the trial continues from the same day. It is not linked to a person, an email, or a browser profile.
• Request content, YouTube. The video title, the channel name, and the metadata line shown on the card, such as view count, length, and age.
• Request content, X. The author’s display name and handle, the post text (cut at 500 characters), its length, whether it has an image, a video, or links, the visible text of up to 3 links, a “reposted by” line if shown, and the author and text of a quoted post (cut at 200 characters).
• Your rule. We send it with each batch. We pass request content and your rule to TypeSafe AI and keep no copy.

What we do not collect

We do not store video or post content. We do not record your watch history or which posts you see. We never read your direct messages, your notifications, or who you follow. We do not track you across sites, and we run no advertising. The extension runs no analytics.

Website analytics

This website, feeddiet.com, uses Google Analytics to count visits. When you open a page, Google Analytics records the page, the page that linked you here, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. Google does not store your IP address. We use these counts only to learn which pages people read. The Feed Diet extension sends nothing to Google Analytics. To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or block cookies for feeddiet.com.

Chrome extension permissions

• storage. Keeps your rule, your settings, your install id, your sign-in token, and a local cache of judgments on your own machine. If you set a password to lock your settings, only a salted hash of it is stored, on your own machine; the password itself is never stored or sent.
• identity. Opens the sign-in window once, so the extension can receive an API token without ever handling your password.
• sidePanel. Shows the Feed Diet settings in Chrome's side panel when you click the toolbar icon.
• Host access to feeddiet.com. Lets the extension send a batch of post and video descriptions to our server for judgment. It is the only site the extension may call.

The extension reads pages on youtube.com and x.com to find video cards and posts, and to hide the ones your rule rejects. It sends nothing from those pages anywhere except the request content described above.

Who we share it with

• Cloudflare hosts the service and the database.
• Stripe processes payments. We never see your card number.
• Cloudflare Email sends sign-in emails.
• Google Analytics counts visits to this website, as described above.
• TypeSafe AI receives the request content described above and your rule, for classification.

How long we keep it

Usage counts and account data are deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Video and post content is never stored.

Your choices

Write to hello@feeddiet.com to export or delete your account. We answer within 7 days. You can revoke the extension's token from your account page at any time.

Cookies

We set one session cookie so you stay signed in. Google Analytics sets its own cookies on feeddiet.com (_ga and _ga_JM913MD09H) to count visits. We run no advertising cookies.
