What is brain rot on YouTube?
Brain rot is slang for low-effort, overstimulating videos made to keep you scrolling.
How do I block certain videos on YouTube?
On a computer, open the three-dot menu on a video in your YouTube feed and choose “Not interested” or “Don’t recommend channel”. On YouTube Kids or a supervised account, a parent can block a video or a channel.

Why doesn’t that stop brain rot?

How do I block brain rot with one rule?
Write a rule such as “No brain rot, pranks, or scary videos.” on the YouTube tab of the Feed Diet side panel, and click Save. Feed Diet reads each video card and blurs or hides the ones that break the rule, including videos from channels you have never seen.
Example rules:
- “No brain rot.”
- “No brain rot, pranks, or scary videos. Science, drawing, and Minecraft builds are fine.”
- “No brain rot or Shorts. Cooking and drawing are fine.”
Then choose Blur or Hide. Blur covers a video with frosted glass, and one click shows it. Hide removes it from the feed.
Parents can lock the rule with a password, under Lock settings in the side panel.
Can I block brain rot but keep some videos?
Yes. Add an exception to your Feed Diet rule in plain words, such as “No brain rot, except science experiments.” Feed Diet keeps the science experiments and drops the rest of the brain rot.
